천경우 Kyungwoo Chun

국내에서는 처음으로 발간된 천경우 작품집으로 사람과 사람 사이의 관계에 천착한 대표적인 작품「Versus」를 시작으로, 「Believing is Seeing」,「BreaThings」, 시점이 다른 두 대의 카메라로 동시에 찍은 서로 다른 두 장의 사진을 나란히 보여주는 신작 「Simultan」까지 총 4개의 시리즈가 망라되어 있다. 독일에 거주하며 사진을 주된 매체로 작업해 온 한국 작가 천경우는 ‘관계’와 ‘시간’을 중심으로 인간과 세계에 관한 근원적인 질문을 던져온 예술가다. 인물사진으로부터 출발한 그의 작업은 사진의 본성에 대한 탐구와 그 이전에 인간에 대한 관심에서 비롯된 것으로, 매체와 형식의 변주와 함께 그 관심의 범위와 깊이를 확장하여 왔다.

Kyungwoo Chun, a Germanybased Korean artist has been preoccupied with the fundamental question about man and the world, focusing on the notions of ‘relation’ and ‘time’. His works, beginning with portrait photography,stem from a peculiar interest in and concern for man, as well as the exploration of the true nature of photography. Chun experiments with form and medium, extending the width and depth of his artistic insight.
